GM5 - Trans Does Not Engage In Reverse
MODEL
E46; 325iA with M54 and GM5 produced from 03/02 up to 09/02
E53; X5 3.0 vehicles produced from 09/01 up to 09/02
SITUATION
No traction in reverse.
No fault is stored in the transmission fault memory.
CAUSE
The seal on the TCC valve of the convertible/clutch unit is leaking. As a result, reverse gear is either not engaged at all, or it is engaged only partially.
PROCEDURE
, perform the following procedure:
1. Check the level and condition of the transmission fluid. If the level and condition of the transmission fluid are OK, replace the TCC pressure regulator valve (PN 24 32 7 504 743) in the converter/clutch. If the transmission fluid condition/level is not OK,transmission replacement
